Female Medieval Clothing

Between the 13th and the 15th centuries female fashion changed radically a few times. In the 13th century dresses were loose and badly-fitted (a cotte and a surcotte). About the middle of the 14th century dresses started changing their form for a better-fitted one to the trunk (a cottehardie). From the late 14th century outer garments again started to be very spacious, clipped with the belt under the breasts (a houppelande, a robe). These garments were used simultaneously with other kinds of clothes (a cottehardie).
