This type of representation of the saints was used to decorate private chapels or a prayer-desk.
The picture based on "Madonna with Child" located in Munich and probably made by Jean Malouel around 1410.
The picture is made on an oak plank, seasoned and with linen canvas glued to it. Whole plank has been covered with glue-gypsum plaster on which the picture was drawn for the further gilding. The gilding was made with metal particles that are an imitation of gold and give half-mat effect. Egg tempera was used for the painting process and produced with using the original medieval method. It was drawn onto the plank with thin strokes. The painting layer was first protected with egg white varnish. A glaze was put on the gilding.

The fabric is not too wide but it is suitable for bags, sacks or for an outer layer of a gambeson. Because of it's unusual width, you may need to use more of the fabric than you need normally, and it may be difficult to be dealt with for not a skilled tailor. The fabric was probably produced in XIX century, so it may have some minor defects like spots of different shade. It's possible to order clothes made of this fabric.
